Vice Chancellor Message

• I am delighted that the Office of Student Life and Cultural Engagement created at the beginning of the Fall Semester, 2018 has in such a short period registered its presence as the cultural epicenter of the university.

• The office was instituted with the sole objective to create a vibrant cultural environment on campus that will enable students to experience campus life in all its forms, beyond classroom academic engagements. In the past few months of the office’s existence, the campus has witnessed a variety of cultural activities including both contemporary and traditional forms of theatre, dance, visual art and photography.The office was instituted with the sole objective to create a vibrant cultural environment on campus that will enable students to experience campus life in all its forms, beyond classroom academic engagements. • The office has also made significant efforts in raising awareness on critical issues surrounding student life, of which mental and social wellbeing of students has been a key focus. SLCE events have found tremendous popularity not only with students but also with the larger JGU community.

• One of the key initiatives taken by the Office in the past few months has been to facilitate a cohesive relationship with the neighboring institutions (Schools, Colleges and Universities) by inviting them to attend and participate in the events organized at JGU. This is an important step towards creating a sense of belonging and forging a sense of community between students and staff across campuses in the region. I am positive that going forward the office of SLCE will be able to remap the cultural imagination of the JGU campus and also create new terms of engagement with the world outside.

• Through the array of events organized in the last semester and the impelling line-up for the coming year, the office of SLCE promises to make JGU a far more interesting and culturally engaged campus. I wish them all the best for all their future endeavors.
