About Us

To establish and incorporate a teaching university in the state of Gujarat to be known as the Birsa Munda Tribal University at Rajpipla District, Narmada, to develop flexible and innovative academic and research programs in emerging areas, with special reference to the tribal population of Gujarat, Birsa Munda Tribal University was established by Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar with Act-15 since April-2017. The university was formally started since October-2017 at Rajpipla Dist: Narmada

Objectives of the University:

The primary objective of the University shall be to create equitable multiple socio-economic growth centers of excellence besides the following objective, namely:-

  • To provide avenues of higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population of the State of Gujarat;

  • To develop different patterns of teaching for certificate or diploma courses, under graduate and post-graduate courses and at Doctoral & Post Doctoral levels and to maintain a high standard of education;

  • To develop different patterns of teaching for certificate or diploma courses, under graduate and post-graduate courses and at Doctoral & Post Doctoral levels and to maintain a high standard of education;

  • To formulate tribal centric development model; publish reports and monographs; to organise conferences, seminars, etc…, on issues relating to tribes; to provide inputs with regard to policy matters in different spheres to the State Government;

  • To take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning processes in the interdisciplinary studies and research;

  • To establish close linkage with the industry to make teaching, research, entrepreneurship and training at the University relevant to the needs of the society at national and global levels;

  • To collaborate with national and international universities/ organisations, especially for undertaking cultural studies and research on tribal communities;

  • To provide facilities for Tribal Management Studies;

  • To establish, maintain modern skills and vocational training centers;
