The West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration is an umbrella university for all the institutions of West Bengal imparting education and research in teachers’ training, education planning and administration. The university is investing dedicated effort for being responsive to Global changes and Indian heritage and for emerging as one of the pathfinders in the field of Teacher Education.
The West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration has come into existence by virtue of the Act of the West Bengal Legislature, having been assented by the Governor. The Act has been known as the West Bengal Act XXI of 2014; The West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration Act, 2014 (published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, January 16, 2015). this is one of the biggest University of its kind with 457 affiliation colleges at present under the Vice-Chancellorship of Prof.(Dr.) Soma Bandyopadhyay.
