Established in 1982, B.M.T Law College, Purnia is recognized u/s 2(F) and 12(B) of the UGC act 1956. The permanent affiliation has been granted to this college by the Bar Council of India for Law Courses. This college has been accredited Grade "B" by NAAC in the year 2011. This Law College is having a permanent affiliation with Bihar Government since 1988. This college has a multi-dimensional vision and aims to provide qualitative law education not only to the students living in and around the Purnea district but also impart legal education to students belonging to Koshi Commissionary as well as belonging to two neighboring countries like Nepal and Bangla Desh. It is a well-known fact that law education is now an imperative curriculum and also job oriented like medical, engineering, and other technical & vocational education. It may also be referred in this context that B.M.T. Law College has a clear-cut vision to impart education especially to students belonging to the S.C/S.T. and Backward Classes and those of socially, educationally, and economically weak which covers a great bulk of the region. Hence this college gives sufficient impetus to the bulk of the population as referred to above. Such impetus is given in the form of scholarship and also half-free studentship. This college has organized different extension activities like legal awareness, legal aid, moot court, Lok Adalat, and the programs organized by N. S. S. in which the students and faculty members of the law department are participating.
